The concept of being an amateur filmmaker to me has always made me feel some kind of way when im referenced to as one. I feel all of the negative connotation that is put behind the term. I work really hard at my craft, and to be called an amateur feels like an insult. After reading this article I have a new appreciation for the term of being called an "Amateur". I love that the work that I make does not get hindered by outer force that I cant control. I love having full creative to see a project from the start to finish. I have the need to have my imprint on every aspect of film making. My favorite quote from the article is "your mistakes will not get you fired". Amen.

I can understand why Camper would try to generalize what avant-garde film making to help people understand why they are made. This is an attempt to open the door to an wider audience of people to say well most films are A, B and C. I believe that Camper lost me when created a list of what each avant-garde film should have. I feel that the whole point of avant-garde film making is pushing forward of what we normally look at acceptable film making. I want to keep pushing the needle of what the masses will deem a normal apart of the daily media consumed. I want to dilute the normal pot and spice up the world.
